  • Workflow observation and assistance: Shadow different steps of the workflow including intake and pickup window, prescriptions entry and verification. Once they are familiar with the process, they can begin assisting with tasks permitted by site policy

  • Inventory assistance: Learn about the ordering process and inventory management. Help with cycle counts, pulling outdates, putting up order, organizing shelves

  • MTPs: review Medication Therapy Problems while shadowing prescription verification

  • DI: complete Drug Information questions from patients or team members

  • Clinical services: immunization (IMZ), medication therapy management (MTM), OTC counseling, discharge medication counseling

  • Patient case: Patient case work up (typical required assignment in rotation curriculum)

  • Workflow improvement: Identify an area for improvement for the workflow (i.e., efficiency, patient safety), create and implement solution then discuss results and barriers

  • Staff / Patient education project: Create education materials for patients or staffs (i.e., asthma inhalers day supply cheat sheet, vaccines education)

  • Community Outreach: Blood pressure table, immunization table, flu clinic, doctor detailing
